The Door In The Backyard: Part 2
I could see the light obviously surround me, dragging me closer and closer as I could hear Titan continue to bark. It sounded as if he was getting closer, but for some reason it also sounded like he was getting farther and farther away. I couldn’t see him anymore, I could only hear him, and the television I left on, and the crickets, and the horns of cars in the city. It seemed as if I could hear everything going on all at once, but I couldn’t see anything, nothing at all except the blinding white light. It was strong, powerful, yet I didn’t feel the urge to fight against it.
It felt as if it was an age before anything materialized. I could still hear all of the noises of the world I was now leaving behind, the one that had left me behind a long time ago. Unexpectedly I couldn’t care about that world, I could now see it for what it really was; arrogant, asinine, plastic, fake. It didn’t matter to me any longer as I continued my descent into the light, and for a minute I could have sworn I was dead and this was heaven.
The eternity had ended, and I found myself falling, coming closer and closer to the ground which was green, full of plants and grasses, and the trees that were all around me. A accelerated wave of panic had stricken me as I realized what was going on. I was literally falling, and I wasn’t sure if I was even still alive or not but it sure as hell felt like it. Terror had gripped me as the ground was coming up to meet me faster, and faster. A thud, I could feel it, it hurt like nothing before and brought me back to a time when I was a child and everything was still pure, and wonderful, and full of life when I fell from the swings at the playground and got the wind knocked right out of me. It hurt, and I felt dizzy but I was still alive, this was a plus.
I rolled over, whining and put a hand to my chest as I could feel my heartbeat racing, and the breath coming into my lungs quicker and quicker now. I looked up, the canopy of the trees was overhead as the light was cascading in, than all of a sudden a figure was blocking the light. I squinted, it was a girl, she was studying me closely now. He had long blond hair, and was wearing beads that were modeled into a bead bracelet. I sat upright, still panting and slightly panicked. “Who the hell are you, and where the hell am I?” I asked her, as nicely as I could at the moment.
She didn’t say a word to me, instead once I sat up and spoke she bolted back into the woods she came from, almost like she was more of a inquisitive cat than a human being. I could see her staring at me, studying me from a absence and it felt a little dreadful, but than again I was the unfamiliar here. “Well” I said out loud, “I take it you don’t speak English huh?”
